Holiday Christmas Dinner Tablescape Hacks

In a rush to decorate for Christmas dinner? You can easily prepare for the occasion with everyday household items. I found all the decor I needed to create a festive table at my local grocery store and in my garden!

I like to keep my table clean and classic with a simple color palette. Green ferns, candles, and a plate of cookies are enough to make a festive statement for family and friends.

All of these items were purchased at my local local grocery store.

I used two disposable metal pans to hold the different sized candles and protect my tablecloth. The cake stand at the center creates a nice focal point to display the classic, white snowball cookies trimmed with cranberries for a pop of color!

I added ferns to completely cover the trays. More is more, in this instance. If you don't have ferns, you could use either Christmas tree cuttings from your local Christmas tree supplier (you can pick them up for free!), or use magnolia leaves. White flowers mixed with poinsettia foliage make a wonderful southern tablescape.

Red velvet ribbon was cut and stapled shut for a quick homemade napkin ring. I added white berries and eucalyptus sprigs wrapped in metal wire for a pop of color. You can add a single poinsettia flower or red rose instead. (All available at your local grocery store!)

White tablecloth, napkins, and plates are a staple for every holiday as they are the perfect blank slate to build your table decor from. You can then add holiday specific layers of color and festive accents. I used my grandmother's tortoiseshell cutlery mixed with flea market, silver-plated cutlery. A mix of high and low end place settings keep your table interesting and not too formal. l love mixing vintage crystal with Home Goods purchased plates and wine glasses. When it's this affordable, I never stress over a chipped plate or a broken wine glass.

Couple tips for getting it right every time:

-Keep the heights low enough so that your guests can easily see and talk above them. That way you won't have to move aside decor that's too high and your table will remain decorated throughout the meal.

-Pressed for time? Set your table the night before! You'll be glad to have it crossed off your list so you can focus on the food.

-If you're using greenery from your garden, be sure to check it for bugs. You may need to soak it ahead of time to keep any creepy crawlies from getting on your guests!

This was a quick 30 minute project!
