“In the woods we return to reason and faith.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

DON’T FENCE ME IN

What is a modern mountain home? How do you create that feeling of being in the mountains in a non-linear, figurative and emotive way? These were the questions that led Angela to begin a process of designing a most unique Western retreat where the lines of demarcation between inside and out became seamless without being reductionist. Color tones were guided by the seasons, materials were locally sourced— like a soft mohair rug to feel like you are atop a beloved sweater— and the artworks’ colors were a starting off point when selecting paint and fabric.

“Interiors should be fluid and flexible. It’s how we live.”

HIGH ALTITUDE FIRE

Natural materials like silver macaubus marble, rift cut oak cabinets grounded this modern country kitchen. The flat panel cabinet with recessed brass pulls and the white plaster, custom hood brought modern lines with timeless appeal. A squid ink black door casing spills into a breakfast room with three marble tables that can be rearranged lodge-style.

IN FULL BLOOM

“The flowers are not showing us how pretty they are, or how weird. They are what they are -No invention for the sake of invention! Invention must serve the purpose of art.”  ― Vivienne Westwood
